POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for procurement and purchasing activities on assigned projects and tasks for materials to be delivered on time to meet production and shipment schedules.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Obtain bill of materials (BOM) from the Supervisor, Materials Control

• Be an expert in the Business Systems (TPS) in purchasing and inventory

• Assist and support Materials Control Department goals of reducing materials cost by:
  • Identifying and negotiating with additional suppliers
  • Proactive and professional engagement with all departments and suppliers in support of cost saving and production goals

• Contact vendors (typically 2 or 3) for quotes (unless quote calls for using a repeat vendor where prices are known)

• Confirm that quotes are received back within a day if quotes cannot be obtained over the phone

• Review pricing and delivery times of vendor quoting

• Select vendor with best cost and ability to meet desired delivery times

• Prepare purchase orders and deliver P. O. number via the inventory system

• Expedite orders from vendors as required and follow up on receipt at PEC

• Order raw materials, stock items, to include pallets and crates and follow up on missing parts report at the request of Stock Clerk, Manager – Materials Control and/or Director of Operations

• Understand the stock receiving process to help trouble shoot and resolve material, inventory and missing part issues.

• Utilize e-Bay account to facilitate the sale of over stock and excess parts

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION
High School Diploma with a college degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
2-3 years in purchasing environment (including stock room experience)
SKILLS
Detail oriented, interpersonal skills, judgment in negotiating and evaluating quotes. Proficient with MS Office and other software.
