Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer for a manufacturing facility in Jamestown, NY. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, supplies, and services necessary to support production operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining inventory levels, controlling costs, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and procure materials, components, and services to meet production schedules
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Process purchase orders and ensure accuracy of order details
- Track and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery
- Resolve issues related to shipping delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- Collaborate with internal departments including production, engineering, and accounting
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (manufacturing environment preferred)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP/MRP systems
- Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
