Buyer - Onsite

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Buyer for a contract position with a Global Manufacturing Company located in Buffalo Grove, IL. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

Compensation: Up to $37.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:
This role is responsible for all purchases made by the organization. The ideal candidate will evaluate and approve vendors, authorize purchase orders for goods or services, and use their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals within a manufacturing environment. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reviews requisitions
• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items
• Selects suppliers with Supply Chain Manager based on criteria such as quality certification, capacity analysis, and financial analysis
• Estimates values according to knowledge of market price
• Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
• Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
• Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
• Approves invoices for payment
• Expedites delivery of goods to users

Primary Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in area of specialty
• At least 4+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
• Sourcing experience in the manufacturing field is required
• Knowledge of MRP systems (Oracle preferred)
• Analytical skills to synthesize complex or diverse information and collect and research data
• Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Project management skills to coordinate and complete projects on time and budget
• Strong business acumen and understanding of business implications of decisions
• Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and set goals
• Professionalism to approach others in a tactful manner and react well under pressure
