CAD Designer Intern

Job Description:

Dewberry has an opportunity for a CAD Designer Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Site Civil/Land Development Group in our Orlando, FL office and work with designers, engineers, project managers, and other professionals. This position emphasizes design and plan set preparation of commercial, power, multi-family, and residential projects. Work activities may include; site layouts, detailing of sheets, profiles, cross sections, and redline drafting for conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings.

Responsibilities:

• Provide drafting and design services by preparing AutoCAD 3D engineering drawings that compile to create a set of permittable plans. 
• Prepare designs from general instruction and preliminary sketches, diagrams or schematics. 
• Prepare working drawings from conceptual plan to PSP or Development Plan, final engineering documents and construction record drawings. 
• Coordinate with other team members including engineers, managers, administrative staff and construction staff members. 

Required Skills & Required Experience:

• Currently pursuing an Associate’s of Arts or Bachelor’s degree  
• Experience using Civil 3D to create surfaces, alignments and profiles is preferred. 
• Strong interest and excels in Math. 
• Willingness to assist with a wide range of projects and work with multiple project managers. 
• Strong interest in all phases of Civil Engineering including site development, utilities, water resources, and construction. 
• High attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills. 
• Ability to ask for additional direction and assistance when needed.

Summer Intern Program  

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.

• Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
