Position Overview:About this role
UES is hiring a full-time CAD Drafter in Kennesaw, Georgia. You will use your drafting skills to turn sketches, specifications, and technical information into accurate drawings for geotechnical and environmental projects. Your work will help engineers and environmental professionals clearly communicate site conditions and project findings.
Day-to-day work
You will prepare and revise drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, review measurements, incorporate feedback, and check completed drawings for accuracy. Projects may include geotechnical investigations, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, and soil and groundwater assessments. You will also organize project drawing files, manage competing deadlines, and work with technical staff to resolve missing or unclear information.
Qualifications
Essential skills include strong technical drawing ability, attention to detail, mathematical skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. You should understand construction drawings, be familiar with CAD software and 3D modeling tools, and communicate clearly with project team members.
The published qualifications list a bachelor’s degree in CAD, architecture, engineering, or a related field and three or more years of drafting experience. Candidates with a drafting certificate should contact Recruiting to confirm eligibility. Previous experience with geotechnical or environmental drawings would help you become familiar with the assignments.
What success looks like
Early success means learning the team’s drawing standards, review process, and file organization. As you become familiar with the work, you should produce accurate drawings, respond thoughtfully to feedback, meet agreed deadlines, and communicate early when you need clarification.

Recruiting can explain the work schedule, overtime expectations, and whether any hybrid arrangements are available.
Your team and development
You will collaborate with engineers, environmental professionals, and other project team members. Working across different assignments offers an opportunity to expand your drafting skills and understanding of engineering and environmental work. During the interview, ask about the reporting relationship, mentorship, training, certification support, and potential career paths.
Why consider this opportunity?
This role offers meaningful technical work, exposure to a variety of projects, and industry-leading benefits. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys turning detailed information into clear drawings and seeing how their work contributes to a larger project.
