Camp Aquatics Manager

Role Summary

As Camp Aquatics Manager, you’ll lead safe, engaging Outdoor waterfront programming for campers during our 8-week summer season in New Liberty, Iowa. This seasonal role ensures aquatics operations run smoothly, staff are prepared, and campers build confidence in and around the water.

Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily aquatics operations and risk management
- Supervise, schedule, and coach lifeguards/watchers
- Deliver training on rescue skills, emergency response, and camper engagement
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and camp procedures

Required qualifications/skills:
- Minimum age 21; able to live on camp property
- Lifeguard certification (or ability to earn) and 4+ weeks aquatic management training/experience
- Youth program/camp experience; leadership strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license; safe record; able to operate a 12-passenger van
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors; annual physical exam

A Typical Camp Day

Your day begins with a quick waterfront check-in, confirming coverage and reviewing any updates from the prior shift. You connect with your aquatics team through clear, supportive communication—sharing expectations, listening to concerns, and giving timely performance feedback.

Between camper sessions, you run short skill refreshers and scenario walk-throughs so staff stay confident and consistent. You coordinate with other camp leaders to align swim times, adapt plans for weather, and keep transitions calm and organized. Throughout the day, you model steady customer service—helping campers feel welcome, capable, and safe—then close out with notes for tomorrow and a brief team huddle to keep the week on track.
