Cardiac Sonographer - Pelandale Specialty Center

This position is accountable for accurately, safely and efficiently performing routine congenital and pediatric echocardiographic procedures with competency including assisting in transesophageal, epicardial and intracardiac echocardiographic procedures in outpatient clinic environment. Assists the Cardiologist as required. Generates and prepares a draft echocardiogram report using the archiving and report writing software. Works under the direction of the clinic manager. Participates in the rotation of on-call duties and outreach clinic involvement. Performs EKGs, Holter and multi-event applications

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum two (2) years congenital and pediatric echocardiography preferred
• Skill to instruct, train and educate health providers in the assessment of congenital heart disease
• Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac hemodynamics and palliative/corrective congenital heart surgical procedures
• Bilingual skills preferred

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• College Degree - 2 year in Accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasonography OR completion of an accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasonography Technical/Vocational training program AND high school diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required
• If individual has neither accredited program nor 2 year degree, high school diploma and equivalent experience sufficient to allow for successful completion of either ARDMS or CCI certification required below
• College Degree - 4 year Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography preferred
• BLS - Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
• RDCS-PE - ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiography or RDCS-PE - ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiography with successful completion of a formal pediatric/congenital echocardiography externship program within 18 months of hire or transfer into position required
• RDCS-AE - ARDMS Adult Echocardiography preferred
• RDCS-FE - ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography preferred
