Job Summary and Qualifications

The Echo Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures ordered by the physician. The Echo Tech is responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a diagnostic/therapeutic environment. This individual will serve as a role model and clinical resource for the staff. They respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.  

What you will do in this role:  

  • Operate all department equipment safely and properly.

  • Teach and mentor radiology students.  

  • Relay TEE Probe serial number to RN to document in patient record and enter into Merge for bidirectional tracking of scope used.  

  • Assure proper patient data is entered in Merge for reporting.  

  • Perform proper HLD disinfection on TEE scope.  

  • Maintain proper documentation of HLD disinfection of TEE scope in departmental log.  

  • Follow proper procedures for quality controls and HLD related to equipment and accessories.  

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform surgery and portable exams.  

  • Follow proper procedures for quality controls related to equipment and accessories.  

  • Follow department protocols for communicating with patients, doctors and coworkers.  

  • Transportation of patients to and from the radiology department safely.  

  • Demonstrate proper documentation concerning patient’s history.  

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform contrast media administration  

  • Accurately follow physician orders, document completion of exam in Meditech, scan documents, and verify images in Merge. 


What qualifications you will need: 

  • Graduate of a Diagnostic Echo Medical Sonography Program

  • ARDMS or CCI registered or eligible, to be obtained within 6 months of employment start date 

  • American Heart BLS obtained/maintained according to hospital policy  

  • Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred

Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times. Visit us for excellent general and OB care!
