The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Represents the Career Coach Program in local high schools and conducts public relations efforts to promote the CTE programs.
  • Provides career development guidance for high school students with an emphasis on technical programs.
  • Plans and implements student recruitment activities for technical programs.
  • Assists prospective students with career exploration activities and career assessments.
  • Assists prospective students with admissions, financial aid, and registration procedures for college admission.
  • Provides guidance to students regarding career choices.
  • Conducts high school classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities.
  • Provides prospective students with information regarding the current job market and trends in career choices.
  • Schedules and attends college campus tours and industry tours with high school students.
  • Coordinates job shadowing opportunities for students.
  • Maintains an ongoing database of students and classrooms where services are offered.
  • Complies with all policies of the LEA and the Alabama State Department of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a Bachelor's degree in education, marketing, communication, or a related field.

Must have a pleasing and enthusiastic personality, a positive attitude, and evidence of trustworthiness.

Must have knowledge in business and industry.

Must have positive human relations skills.

PREFERRED:

Experience in industry.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of what it takes to be successful in the world of work.

Knowledge of College- and Career-Readiness Standard/PLAN 2020.

Knowledge of current employment trends.

Duty Days 202

Salary Range: From/To Based on MCPSS Salary Matrix, depending on degree and experience. Assignment for subsequent years is contingent upon a recommendation for hire and continuous funding.

Additional Job Information

Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
