Carrier Sales Representative
Location: Multiple Locations
Salary Range: $45,000 to $60,000 per year
Position Summary
A growing organization specializing in freight logistics and transportation solutions is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Carrier Sales Representative to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity for motivated professionals who are passionate about the transportation industry and eager to build a rewarding long-term career in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
The freight logistics industry is one of the most essential sectors driving the global economy. Every product consumers purchase has been transported through a complex network of carriers, brokers, and shippers working together seamlessly. As a Carrier Sales Representative, you will sit at the heart of this network, serving as a critical link between shippers who need their freight moved and carriers who have the capacity to move it. Your ability to negotiate, build relationships, and solve problems quickly will directly impact operational success and revenue growth.
This role offers significant career advancement potential. High performers frequently move into senior sales positions, team leadership roles, or specialized account management tracks. The skills you develop here, including negotiation, market analysis, communication, and strategic thinking, are highly transferable and deeply valued across the broader logistics and supply chain industry. If you are ambitious, competitive, and motivated by results, this position can serve as a launching pad for a long and successful career.
Core Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with carriers across various transportation modes, including dry van, flatbed, and refrigerated freight
  • Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers while ensuring profitability margins are maintained
  • Source and secure carrier capacity to meet shipper demand, especially during peak seasons and market disruptions
  • Monitor load progress from pickup through delivery, proactively communicating updates to all relevant parties
  • Resolve service failures, delays, or disputes quickly and professionally to maintain trust and satisfaction
  • Track and analyze market trends, lane rates, and carrier availability to make informed procurement decisions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the transportation management system
  • Collaborate closely with the sales and operations teams to ensure seamless freight execution
  • Identify and onboard new carrier partners to expand available capacity and strengthen the carrier network
  • Meet or exceed individual performance metrics related to load count, margin, and carrier relationship growth

Must-Have Requirements
  • Minimum of one year of experience in freight brokerage, carrier sales, or a closely related logistics role
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and close deals under time pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and confident phone presence
  • Proficiency with transportation management systems or freight brokerage software platforms
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and thrive in a high-volume work environment
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a competitive drive to exceed goals
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field is preferred

Benefits and Perks
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $45,000 to $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based bonus and commission structure offering significant earning potential beyond base pay
  • Comprehensive health insurance package including medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid time off including vacation days, personal days, and recognized holidays
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities and access to industry training resources
  • Collaborative and supportive team culture with clear pathways for career advancement
