About the Role

Tartine is looking for a friendly, reliable Barista/Cashier to join our new Mill Valley team.

In this role, you'll be one of the faces of Tartine, welcoming guests, taking food & beverage orders, preparing coffee and specialty beverages, operating the POS, bussing and running food to guests, and helping keep service running smoothly during busy periods.

We're looking for someone with barista, cashier, café, bakery, restaurant, or similar customer service experience who enjoys working with people and can remain calm and positive in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

Welcome guests and provide warm, attentive customer service

Take guest orders and accurately operate our POS system (Toast)

Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and other drinks

Process payments and handle cash accurately

Help manage guest lines and keep service moving efficiently

Pack to-go and online orders accurately

Run food and assist other team members during busy service

Restock products and supplies throughout the shift

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment

Answer phones and assist guests with questions about the menu

Learn Tartine's menu and confidently explain food, pastry, bread, and beverage offerings

Communicate allergy information to the appropriate team members

Rotate between stations and support the team based on business needs

Follow food-safety, sanitation, and company standards

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a barista, cashier, café, bakery, restaurant, or customer-service professional

Experience with Starbucks or a similar coffee-shop environment is a plus

Comfortable interacting with guests and providing friendly, professional service

Comfortable operating a POS system and handling customer orders and payments

Able to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining accuracy

Reliable, punctual, and prepared to work scheduled shifts

Comfortable standing and moving throughout the shift

Willing to learn about Tartine's menu, service standards, and beverage programs.

Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team

You don't need to know everything on day one—we're looking for people who bring strong customer-service experience, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
