Description

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Other Conditions: Position is a temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, hours not to exceed 19.75 hours per week. Continuous recruitment until programmatic needs are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Assistant Media Relations Director of assigned sport.
  • Maintains and documents game/competition statistics for assigned sport.
  • Operates scoreboard and/or computer programs, as needed and assigned.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding or rules and statistics of designed sport.
  • Ability to think and work under time-sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrates a positive and professional working attitude and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the coaching staff, support staff, administrators in the UH Athletics Department and other individuals associated with the Athletics Department.
  • Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future.
  • Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Knowledge of sports that incumbent will be assigned to.
  • Must be able to work weekday, weekends, holidays and nights when needed as many events are scheduled on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that is fast paced and time-sensitive.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
