Casual Occupational Therapist - NICU Acute Care

Responsibilities/Job Description:

We are seeking a casual occupational therapist to join our system NICU OT team! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work with our teams at Fairview Masonic Children's University Hospital in Minneapolis and each of our four community hospitals - Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Fairview Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury and Fairview St. John's Hospital in Maplewood.

 

In collaboration with patients and families, the occupational therapist is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care within scope of practice. This includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, planning, intervention and establishing outcomes.

• FTE: 0.01, casual position. 
• Schedule: One weekend per month with opportunity to pick up additional shifts as available.

Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

Responsibilities

• The occupational therapist partners with the patient and family while performing the Evaluation/Re-evaluation
• Gathers pertinent data
• Performs examination
• Determines treatment diagnosis
• Develops an individualized plan of care through coordination with the patient and family
• Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks
• Determines prognosis for recovery
• Establishes individualized goals with patient and/or caregiver
• Individualizes plan of care considering developmental level and cultural differences
• Implements and modifies plan of care based on reassessment and patient response
• Coordinates care and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team for all aspects of patient care
• Establishes appropriate discharge plan
• Partners with patients and families to provide skilled intervention
• Implements plan of care
• Alters treatment/plan of care to reflect change in patient status and response to treatment
• Assesses patient and/or caregiver learning needs and provides appropriate education

Required Qualifications

• Occupational Therapy License in State of Minnesota or temporary license in State of Minnesota

• Basic Life Support Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)

Preferred Qualifications

• M.A./M.S. in Occupational Therapy
• 1+ years of experience in Occupational Therapy
• 1+ years of experience in pediatrics or NICU
• Experience in infant feeding
• Certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy

 

Qualifications:

$39.57- $57.16 Hourly
