Purpose of Position: Performs CT procedures as requested by providers in a manner consistent with prescribed radiation protection safety standards.
Description
:
Maintain, set-up and adjust equipment, checking calibration and recalibrating daily.
Positions patient on examination table and adjusts immobilization devices as required to obtain optimum views of specified area of the body requested by physician as determined by department policy and procedure observing all health and safety precautions, quality assurance and infection control standards.
Receive requests for radiologic studies. Provide explanation of procedures and answer pertinent questions of patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
Immediately reviews CT imaging and cross-sectional anatomy and relays any emergent findings to Radiologist.
Begins IVs on patients for contrast enhanced CT exams and gives/instructs patient/RN on any oral contrast guidelines.
Apply principles of radiographic protection using beam restriction devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
Applies ionizing radiation to patients according to established practices and procedures.
Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency using and/or modifying established procedures, to assure timely completion of work in conformance with department policies and procedures.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of departmental and Hospital policies and Procedures as they pertain to the job, including the fire and disaster plans. Comply with Infection Control policies and procedures.
Participates in activities which promote professional self-growth and development; meeting minimum requirements for continuing education as directed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Massachusetts State Licensing.
Maintain an ethical relationship with patients, physicians, personnel and guests and insures patient confidentiality at all times.
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and coworkers.
Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
:
CT Technologist - Grade: 16R, Job Code: 7554
o (ARRT) - Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in CT
o (NMTBC) Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board in Cat Scan (CT)
Schedule Details: 40 Hours Per Week, Rotating Nights, 9p-7a, Every Other Weekend and Rotating Holidays
