Description Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Amazon Leo team is looking for a global category sourcing leader to support business and engineering stakeholders in selecting, developing and managing business relationships with critical technology and service suppliers, and others as needed to execute on Leo's objectives. Key job responsibilities The ideal candidate will have: - Prior experience in supply chain procuring specialty materials such as optical assemblies, precision components, or equivalent technical commodities - A successful track record developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating agreements and statements of work - Drive hardware delivery through the product life cycle from requirements development to on-dock (on time at the right quality and cost) - Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify and execute projects that reduce cost, mitigate supply chain risks, protect continuity of supply, and exploit industry developments that benefit customers - Influence suppliers' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations - Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals - Drive financial modeling of large and complex deals - Evaluate and monitor critical supplier performance, including financial health, quality, on-time delivery, and cost - Ensure orders are released and on schedule to meet needs of the production system - Effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination - Travel as needed (domestic & international) Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field - Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization, including coaching of junior staff - 3+ years of supply chain management, planning, strategic sourcing, commodity management or program management experience - Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements - Experience using multiple ERP or other equivalent procurement tools - Experience managing optics , optical assemblies, precision components, or equivalent technical commodities Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field - Experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering - Experience of high level negotiation and successful internal and external relationship management Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
