    Job Description

    At a glance

    • Home daily
    • $0.57 to $0.68 per mile on about 2,000 miles a week
    • No loading or unloading
    • Night shift, one steady day off each week
    • New CDL holders welcome, paid training

You drive at night. You come home in the morning. That's the job.

We run a dedicated store-delivery fleet out of Shafter. Every night, drivers take loaded trailers to the same 40 retail stores across the Central Valley, the Los Angeles basin and Las Vegas, then bring empties and backhauls back. You never touch the freight. You swap the trailer at the dock, secure it with a king pin lock, and roll.

    What you'll earn

    • 0 years: $0.57 per mile
    • 1 year: $0.59 · 2 years: $0.61 · 3 years: $0.63 · 4 years: $0.65 · 5+ years: $0.68
    • About 2,000 miles a week, which comes to $1,140 to $1,360 before extras
    • $15 stop pay for a sweep or backhaul (most drivers get one a day)
    • $20 for loads under 100 miles
    • Weekly direct deposit

    Your night, start to finish

You drive your own car to the yard. Trucks stay at the distribution center. You pick up your tractor, hook a loaded trailer, and run your stores. After a few weeks you know every dock, every backhaul and every shortcut. That's when the job gets easy.

Plain talk about the hard part: this is a 24/7 operation. You work nights, weekends and holidays, with a set day off during the week. October through December is peak season. Some drivers stay out 2 to 3 days a week then, and the team works to get you home whenever possible.

    New to driving?

If you finished a CDL-A school program of at least 120 hours, you qualify. Training runs 3 to 5 weeks (200 to 250 hours) with a mentor, and it's paid. Then you come back to Shafter and start running stores close to home.
