It is Saturday afternoon. You drop your last container, head home to Springfield and park your truck where you can see it. Sunday and Monday are yours. Tuesday you pick the start time that suits you and roll out again. That is a regional intermodal week on this account, and drivers average $1,500 for it.
How the Week Goes
Tuesday: start at the time you chose, heading to the Kansas City or St. Louis rail yards
On the Road: move containers to and from customers within 300 miles across Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois
At the Customer: 75% drop and hook, and the other 25% is loaded or unloaded by the customer, so your hands stay off the freight
Nights: in a 100% automatic sleeper with a 1500 watt inverter
Saturday: back home with your truck
Sunday and Monday: off
