Certified Athletic Trainer

Large managed care company is looking for a Certified Athletic Trainer to serve as a physician extender in a high-volume Sports Medicine/Orthopedic practice. This is a contract to hire position.

WORK LOCATION: 2800 Marcus Ave, New Hyde Park, NY 11042

PAY: $21.00

CONTRACT DATES: CONTRACT TO HIRE

HOURS: M-F, 8-4

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Room patients and obtain focused musculoskeletal histories.
• Assist the physician with musculoskeletal examinations and clinical assessments.
• Assist with ultrasound-guided injections, procedures, and other in-office treatments.
• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, rehabilitation, home exercises, activity modification, and injury prevention.
• Apply braces, splints, taping, and other durable medical equipment.
• Assist with rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise instruction.
• Coordinate imaging, physical therapy, referrals, and follow-up care.
• Assist with patient flow, room turnover, and other tasks that improve physician efficiency.
• Assist with EMR documentation and clinical administrative tasks as appropriate.
• Provide support for community outreach, sports coverage, and injury prevention programs as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training.
• Prior experience in Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, or a related musculoskeletal healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience working directly with a physician or as a physician extender is preferred.
• New graduates with strong clinical training and excellent interpersonal skills may be considered.
• Experience in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment is a plus.
