Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

The Medical Assistant is responsible for delivering clinical support services to patients as directed by the physician. This role includes performing clinical procedures, assisting with patient care, maintaining exam room readiness, and completing associated documentation and administrative tasks in accordance with practice standards and regulatory requirements. Pay commensurate with experience  Key ResponsibilitiesEscort patients from waiting area to examination rooms.Review chief complaints and prepare patients for physician examination.Obtain and document vital signs (height and weight at every visit).Perform medication reconciliation at each visit, including dosage and frequency.Ensure smoking status is updated annually.Complete required MIPS measures as selected by the practice.Document relevant cardiac diagnoses (e.g., pacemaker, defibrillator).Initiate and document applicable clinical protocols. Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice, including:Sterile dressing changes and wound care.Suture and staple removal.Preparation of sterile injections.Application and removal of casts.Application of splints and braces.Review and verification of History & Physical documentation.Document all clinical information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients.Ensure exam rooms are stocked daily.Clean and sterilize instruments daily in accordance with infection control standards.Process physician x-ray orders through CPOE in the EHR and notify X-ray Technician as needed.Assist surgical patients with consent forms and medical clearance documentation.Communicate effectively with physicians, coworkers, outside vendors, and ancillary providers.Monitor and order clinical supplies in a timely manner.Scan and upload patient records into the EHR system. Professional StandardsMaintain professionalism at all times.Demonstrate compassion and respect toward patients.Maintain respectful working relationships with staff and physicians.Uphold strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).Maintain appropriate voice modulation in patient care areas.Exhibit strong oral communication skills.Comply with workplace policies regarding food and personal cell phone use in patient care areas. QualificationsRequired:Must possess a valid CMA Preferred:Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience Orthopedic practice experienceExperience with ModMed software or similar practice management systems Core CompetenciesClinical patient preparation and intake accuracyVital signs assessment and medication reconciliationOrthopedic clinical support skillsClinical procedure proficiency (within scope of practice)Electronic health record (EHR) documentation accuracyKnowledge of MIPS and regulatory compliance requirementsInfection control and sterilization standardsPatient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)Effective communication and interpersonal skillsTeam collaboration and coordination of careTime management and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentProfessionalism and patient-centered serviceInventory and supply managementSafety awareness and risk management
