    Job Description

    We are seeking a certified Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) to join our Inpatient Augmentative Communication Program. The SLP-A will work as an integral member of the AAC SLP team in the intensive care and acute care settings. Under the direct supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist, the SLP-A will:

    ·         Implement bedside treatment plans in the pediatric intensive care units and across  inpatient acute care units focusing on AAC intervention, developmental care, early rehabilitation, and communication accessibility. 
    ·         Support patients with complex medical needs and evolving medical acuity
    ·         Complete daily clinical documentation
    ·         Develop and prepare treatment materials and communication supports
    ·         Assist in managing supply, storage, and maintenance of AAC equipment and program materials
    ·         Participate in unit rounds and specialty team meetings as appropriate
    ·         Provide treatment education and training to patients, families, and staff
    ·         Collaborate with multidisciplinary providers in a fast-paced medical environment

    The ideal SLP-A candidate is experienced in providing pediatric speech, language, and communication interventions with significant experience in the broad scope of AAC tools and strategies, including no-tech, low-tech, and high-tech solutions. Candidates must:


    Minimum Qualifications
    Education:
    • Associate’s degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program, or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree with completion of required SLPA coursework/certificate program. ASHA C-SLPA certification required
    Experience:
    • 2 years of experience in a related role.
    • Demonstrate strong clinical treatment and documentation skills.
    • Be flexible and able to quickly adapt to the changing, daily needs of the inpatient environment
    • Possess excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Demonstrate a collaborative, patient- and family-centered approach to care

    Licensure/Certifications:
    • A current Massachusetts state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant
