Certified Surgical First Assist

Facility: Dell Seton Medical Center-UT

Department: Surgery Services

Schedule: Day Shift | Full-time | Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00 call rotation holidays assigned on rotation 

How you'll make an impact in this role:

• Partner directly with primary surgeons during operative procedures to provide manual and mechanical tissue retraction, maintain a clear surgical field via targeted suction/irrigation, control hemostasis, and perform body plane closures.
• Position patients using specialized stabilization devices to optimize surgical site exposure while safeguarding skin integrity, nerve pathways, and physiological alignment.
• Apply sterile surgical dressings, secure dynamic wound drainage systems, and oversee post-procedure room turnover and decontamination to maintain operating room efficiency.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary operating room staff, handle delegable surgical tasks, and maintain reliable availability for emergency on-call shifts.

 

What minimum qualifications you'll need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Assistant Surgical Assistant specializing in Surgery credentialed from the National Board
  of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
  degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

What additional requirements you'll need:

• Demonstrates advanced proficiency with robotic procedures within the Robotics Service Line.
