    Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

    Location: Cincinnati, OH
    Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
    Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
    Compensation: $26–$30/hour (higher for exceptional experience)

    About the Opportunity

    A leading manufacturer supporting defense and industrial markets is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to oversee weld quality, compliance, and inspection processes at its Cincinnati operation.

    This role is ideal for an experienced CWI who wants to stay hands-on, influence quality standards, and work closely with production and engineering teams.

    What Youll Do

    • Perform internal and external weld inspections on work-in-progress and completed weldments
    • Inspect to AWS codes, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
    • Interpret weld symbols, acceptance criteria, and configuration revisions
    • Approve or reject weldments and document findings
    • Recommend and approve weld repairs
    • Maintain welder qualifications, WPS records, and inspection documentation
    • Assist with welder training and certification
    • Stop production when welds do not meet code or specification requirements
    • Support audits, corrective actions, and continuous quality improvement initiatives

    What Youll Need

    • Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (required)
    • Minimum 5+ years of welding inspection and manufacturing experience
    • Strong knowledge of AWS welding codes and inspection standards
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings, WPS, and technical documentation
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inspection reporting tools
    • Willingness to work overtime as required
    • Must pass drug screen and background check

    • AWS D1.1 – Structural Steel
    • AWS D1.2 – Structural Aluminum
    • AWS D1.3 – Sheet Steel
    • AWS D1.6 – Stainless Steel
