As a new team member, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping a new, state‑of‑the‑art heart hospital designed with one purpose in mind: delivering world‑class, patient‑centered cardiovascular care. In anticipation of our opening, select roles will begin as early as Summer 2026, allowing you to complete comprehensive orientation and training at our nationally recognized Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospitals. Job Summary

The PRN/PT Chaplain 2 offers advanced spiritual care as part of a holistic, multidisciplinary team. Provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support for all Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family members, and staff, regardless of faith background or religious affiliation. Participates in staff training and professional development. Oversees volunteers and residents.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Plans, coordinates, organizes, and conducts religious services for patients, families, and staff. This includes weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and coordinating bereavement needs.
• Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patients
• Supports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff. Works as part of a team to assess patient needs and improve care.
• Conducts a pastoral assessment of a patient''s spiritual and emotional status and the need for spiritual care
• Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies, and service organizations that support the Baylor Scott & White Health community. Recruits, trains, and coordinates pastoral care volunteers.
• Documents and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients

• Knowledge of philosophical systems and religions
• Knowledge of the principles and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting
• Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Relational and listening skills
• Skill in counseling patients, family members and staff
• Ability to counsel and comfort people during periods of stress
• Ability to purposefully participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team
• BCC Board Certified Chaplain with (APC)
