Job Description:
Plan and execute assigned particle characterization tasks as well as other applicable physical analytical chemistry tasks utilizing standard procedure and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks
Independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Document the experimentation per the regulatory requirements.
Demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills and should possess understanding of core discipline.
Collaborate with various functions (i.e. formulation, analytical, process engineering) to integrate particulate analysis for finished dosage forms and complete projects under aggressive timeline
Ensures safety requirements are met when performing tasks.
Ensures timely delivery of high-quality precise data.
Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems.
Presents findings of defined experiments to larger audiences.
Skills:
Strong background in particle and material characterization with extensive hands-on experience in analytical instrumentation of Laser Obscuration (LO), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Flow imaging, Laser Diffraction (LD), optical microscope, spectroscopy (FTIR/Raman), and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)/EDX (Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy), and Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD)
Lab research experience (academic and / or industry) with proven-track record of presentations/publications.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Capable of independently developing and trouble shooting analytical methods, presenting findings to larger groups and collaborating effectively cross-functionally.
Extensive experience with characterization of peptides and LNPs.
Some familiarity working in regulated environments.
Research presentations/publications.
Industrial background working with lyophilized and/or spray dried pharmaceutical products, particularly with peptide, lipid and/or mRNA preferred. Experience utilizing additional materials science techniques such as Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS), would be a plus.
Qualifications
BS/BA in Chemistry, Material Science, Pharmaceutical sciences or related field with minimum 5 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred) or master s degree with minimum 2 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred).
Experienced in particulate matter characterization and investigation within pharmaceutical, biotechnological, or relevant scientific environments
Experience utilizing analytical instruments relevant to visible and sub-visible particle characterization such as visual inspection, Laser Obscuration (LO), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Flow imaging, Laser Diffraction (LD), optical microscope, spectroscopy (FTIR/Raman), and Scanning Electron Microscope /Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM/EDX)
