Dewberry is seeking a Chief Construction Inspector to work on projects in the greater NYC metropolitan area. The Chief Inspector will review job specifications, plans, field work methods, costs, and supervise inspectors on the job site to verify compliance with contract documents. To qualify, candidates must have prior construction inspection experience on NYSDOT, NYCDEP, NYSTA or other state/city agencies projects and possess NICET IV Certification in Transportation/Highway and Bridge Construction or equivalent; DDC Water Main Training, NJSAT, ACI and Rutgers TCC certifications and knowledge of Ebuilder are also desirable. Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.

Required Skills & Required Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years prior construction inspection experience on NYCDDC or NYSTA projects.
  • Must possess NICET II, III or IV Certification in Transportation/Highway and Bridge Construction or equivalent.
  • OSHA 10 hour certification
  • DDC Water Main Training, NJSAT, ACI and Rutgers TCC certifications and knowledge of SiteManager are also desirable.
  • Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to repetitively stoop, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 25 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Salary Range:

The projected hourly rate for this position is $53.00 to $85.00. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
