Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Chief Engineer for our client, an owner first hotel management company. This is a 6 month contract to hire position based in Washington, DC. Work schedule is Mon - Fri (7am to 5pm) EST with on-call expectations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We're looking for a hands-on, solutions-driven Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and maintenance operation in DC area. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead daily operations of the Engineering department
  • Oversee a team of four maintenance team members
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs and capital improvement projects
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems
  • Maintain and operate cooling/heating towers and central mechanical systems
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, safety requirements, and local regulations
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts
  • Support budgeting, purchasing, and expense controls
  • Respond to and resolve guest room and building maintenance issues
  • Participate in on-call emergency response as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or similar facilities leadership role (hotel or hospital experience a must)

  • Current CPO (Certified Pool Operator) - Preferred - can be obtained once started.

  • Strong experience with HVAC mechanical systems, including cooling/heating towers

  • Working knowledge of:

  • Boilers, chillers, pumps, and building automation systems

  • Electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance trades

  • Fire/life safety systems and compliance standards

  • Strong troubleshooting and preventive maintenance mindset

  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team

Preferred:

  • Hotel engineering experience in branded/select-service or full-service properties
  • EPA certification a plus
  • Experience with CMMS, work order systems, and preventive maintenance software

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This position offers an hourly pay rate of $50-54.00/hr (DOE) with a conversion salary range of $95,000-$105,000k/yr plus their full benefit offerings. They offer a robust benefits package that includes cell phone allowance, medical, dental, and vision coverage, PTO / Holiday pay, 401k and a sign-on bonus.
