Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager/Chief Estimator to lead a high-performing team responsible for preparing competitive bids and proposals, primarily for government clients. This role will oversee the full estimating lifecycle, including reviewing engineering submissions, developing cost estimates (materials, labor, and timelines), and ensuring accurate, timely proposal delivery.
This is a leadership-focused position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, construction-driven environment and has a strong background in estimating for infrastructure or government-funded projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 5–10 estimators, providing guidance, oversight, and mentorship
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for government projects (state and nationwide)
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to develop accurate project bids
- Ensure proposals are competitive, compliant, and submitted on time
- Collaborate closely with Operations leadership and Project Management teams
- Drive process improvements and best practices across the estimating function
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong experience in construction estimating (civil, infrastructure, or related fields)
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring estimating teams
- Background in construction or construction-adjacent industries
- Experience working on government-funded projects
Preferred:
- Experience with steel, guardrail, or roadway-related projects
- Familiarity with NY/NJ market and public sector bidding
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field
- (Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
Work Environment
- Location: New Jersey or New York (NJ preferred)
- Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in-office (Tuesday–Thursday)
- Office Locations:
- Folsom, NJ
- Carmel Hamlet, NY
- Rural office settings with relocation assistance available
- Flexible schedule (not fully remote)
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: Targeting $185K
- Bonus: Discretionary, based on company performance

Interview Process
- Step 1: Virtual interview (1 hour) with Director of Operations
- Step 2: Interview with VP (virtual or in-person)
- Typical process: 2 interviews (occasionally 3)
