Chief of Staff, Consulting Services
Reports to: President, Consulting Services | Full-time | Hybrid / Flexible | Senior Leadership | Location: Chicago highly preferred
Position Overview
The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic partner and operational force multiplier to the President of Consulting Services. This role sits at the center of the business - translating executive vision into action, driving organizational priorities, and ensuring the leadership team operates at its highest level of effectiveness. The right candidate is as comfortable in a financial review as they are facilitating a leadership offsite or resolving an operational bottleneck. This role requires a technically credible, operationally excellent leader who thrives in ambiguous environments and can drive accountability across the consulting portfolio (includes AIM Consulting, ArcLight Consulting, Bridgepoint Consulting, DLC, Harmony Healthcare, and Kranz Consulting).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Execution
- Partner with the President to define and drive the annual strategic agenda for the Consulting Services division
- Design and drive the rhythm of business (ROB), while also driving business strategy initiatives
- Translate high-level goals into clear operational plans with owners, milestones, and accountability structures
- Lead operational programs related to organizational readiness, operating models, and cost initiatives. Prepare the President for board meetings, client briefings, and external engagements - including briefing materials, talking points, and follow-up
Leadership Team Operations
- Own the operating rhythm of the leadership team - agenda design, pre-reads, meeting facilitation, and decision tracking
- Identify gaps in communication or coordination across the senior team and close them proactively
- Serve as a trusted sounding board and advisor to the President on organizational dynamics, team health, and people decisions
- Manage a small team of direct reports as the function grows
Business Performance & Analytics
- Partner with President to drive planning, budgeting, and operational execution across multiple lines of business
- Develop and maintain executive dashboards tracking key consulting performance metrics - utilization, revenue per engagement, client satisfaction, headcount, and pipeline
- Synthesize data from multiple sources into clear narratives for leadership and board consumption
- Flag emerging risks or opportunities and bring recommendations rather than just information
Internal Communications & Culture
- Shape and steward a consistent organizational narrative across the consulting portfolio, partnering with the President to build alignment, manage change communications, and reinforce a unified culture across business units
- Partner with the communications team to draft and oversee all-hands communications, memos, and announcements from the President's office
- Partner with People Operations to support talent and workforce planning initiatives
- Champion a cohesive team culture across a geographically distributed consulting organization
Qualifications
Required
8+ years of experience in technology consulting, business operations, or strategy roles
Demonstrated track record working directly with or in support of C-suite or senior executives
Experience supporting M&A processes, with a focus on post-merger integration
Exceptional written and verbal communication; executive-ready presentation skills
Strong analytical fluency, comfortable turning data into strategic narrative
High degree of discretion and sound judgment in sensitive situations
A genuine AI adopter who actively uses AI tools to do their own work better, and brings curiosity and initiative to identifying how these tools can transform
Preferred
MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field
Prior experience in a professional services or consulting firm environment
Experience with workforce analytics and HR systems
Familiarity with change management methodologies
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite
Prior experience leading through organizational transformation or business unit integration

Compensation
Base - $200k to $280k
Bonus - 20 to 35%
Compensation is determined by relevant experience, market data, and internal equity. Final offers may include additional elements such as long-term incentive participation, professional development funding, and comprehensive benefits. Ranges reflect 2026 market data for senior Chief of Staff roles in professional services.
