Unit School of Medicine Department Neurology

Mission or Goal of Unit The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults and children. Perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments. Train the next generation of neurologist and clinical neurologists.

Chief Purpose of this position The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time member to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises in the Division of Child Neurology. This position will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Clinical • Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings with an emphasis on Child Neurology.
  2. Teaching • Faculty member will teach medical students and housestaff. • They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in Child Neurology. • They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested.
  3. Research • The Division of Child Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. • The faculty member will be expected to participate in and when appropriate lead clinical research and clinical trials.
  4. Service • Faculty member will serve on departmental School of Medicine and/or University committees as necessary. • They will also serve in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BCBE in Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology
  • Completion of an accredited Child Neurology training program
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Salary Range Commensurate with experience

FLSA Exemption Status Exempt Restricted Position No Rank Open Tenure Ineligible Months 12 Months
