BBNS Academy CHOSEN Scholars AmeriCorps members serve as trusted mentors, academic support providers, and positive role models for students. Members help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and personally. Through tutoring, mentoring, classroom support, enrichment activities, and youth development initiatives, CHOSEN Scholars work alongside BBNS Academy staff to address student needs and encourage students to develop confidence, leadership skills, healthy relationships, and a commitment to their education. Members may provide individualized and small-group academic support, assist with homework and learning activities, encourage positive behavior and school engagement, and help connect students and families with available resources. Members also participate in activities designed to promote character development, life skills, leadership, and college and career readiness. The CHOSEN Scholars program is designed to strengthen student outcomes while providing AmeriCorps members with meaningful opportunities to develop professional skills, leadership experience, and a deeper understanding of service to their community. Members receive ongoing training, supervision, and support from BBNS Academy staff and are expected to uphold the organization''s commitment to serving students with compassion, integrity, consistency, and excellence. Member Duties : The Half-Time Nutrition & Culinary Service Member will serve with BBNS Academy to support youth development, educational enrichment, healthy food access, and nutrition education. The member will support the preparation and service of nutritious meals and snacks for eligible youth participating in BBNS Academy programming while incorporating age-appropriate nutrition education and culinary learning opportunities. Through service, the member will help youth develop knowledge about healthy food choices, food preparation, kitchen safety, meal planning, and basic culinary skills. The member''s service will supplement BBNS Academy''s educational and youth-development programming and will be performed in accordance with the approved AmeriCorps program design.
