    Civil Construction Estimator
    Construction Industry Heavy Highway
    Mid-Senior Level | 10 Years Experience Required | Bachelors Degree

    Job Summary

    We are seeking a skilled Civil Construction Estimator to join our Project Management Team during a period of rapid growth. This role is critical to supporting our heavy highway construction projects by preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project documents, and working closely with subcontractors, vendors, and project managers to ensure successful bidding and execution. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in estimating civil construction projects and demonstrate the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Review construction documents, specifications, and scope of work to prepare accurate estimates
    • Execute quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates including subcontractor, vendor, and overhead costs
    • Obtain and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
    • Develop and maintain databases of vendors, subcontractors, and government requirements
    • Communicate project plans, contract terms, and cost structures to relevant parties
    • Participate in project bidding reviews and decision-making
    • Support project managers with financial oversight and cost management throughout the project lifecycle
    • Attend departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

    Required Qualifications

    • Stable work history with 10+ years of heavy highway construction experience
    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating
    • Proficiency with estimating and scheduling software, including HCSS (HeavyBid) and/or Primavera P6
    • Strong ability to read and interpret construction contracts and plans
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Leadership experience with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
    • Strong relationships with local subcontractors and suppliers
    • Must be comfortable working in a dog-friendly office environment

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with AutoCAD and other construction software tools
    • Strong field background in civil construction
    • Demonstrated success in managing estimates for multiphase projects

    Work Environment

    • Primarily office-based with some fieldwork and site visits as needed
    • Collaborative team setting with active interaction across project management and operations teams
