Job title: Consulting Engineer (Civil/Structural) – Nuclear ProjectsLocation: Surry, VA, 23883Pay: $90–$100/hr on w2Work Schedule: 50% Remote / 50% Onsite (Flexibility up to 75% remote / 25% onsite for the right candidate)Duration: 1-Year Contract (Potential Extension-Long term project)Per Diem: $100/day ($700/week)OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Consulting Engineer (Civil/Structural) to support major capital projects at a commercial nuclear power facility. This role involves engineering design, structural analysis, piping support design, rigging evaluations, and field implementation for large infrastructure and plant modification projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare engineering design change packages and supporting nuclear engineering documentation.Perform and review 10 CFR 50.59 Screens and Applicability Reviews.Conduct engineering assessments supporting piping replacements, floor loading, heavy rigging, and structural modifications.Review and approve engineering procedures, drawings, calculations, contingency plans, and training materials.Provide onsite engineering support during implementation and outage activities.Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support large capital projects.
Required Qualifications10+ years of Civil/Structural Design Engineering experience.Commercial nuclear industry experience.Experience with Engineering Design Change Packages.Experience with the Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-001).Strong background in structural engineering and seismic design.Experience with piping supports, rigging analysis, heavy load evaluations, and design verification.Experience developing equipment procurement specifications.Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsExperience preparing or reviewing 10 CFR 50.59 Screens.Familiarity with civil and structural engineering codes and standards.Experience supporting large capital projects within nuclear facilities.Qualifications for writing equipment specifications.
