Civil Engineer – Land Development - On-site

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer – Land Development to oversee commercial, residential, and mixed-use development projects from initial planning through construction and completion.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong project management skills, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities while ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage land development projects from design and permitting through construction and completion.
• Oversee project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and resource planning.
• Coordinate civil engineering designs, site plans, grading, stormwater systems, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Manage contractors, consultants, bids, contracts, invoices, and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, permits, and development requirements.
• Conduct site visits, monitor construction progress, and resolve project challenges.
• Maintain quality standards and facilitate the timely completion of development projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in land development, covering commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Virginia, or the ability to obtain licence reciprocity within six months.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Experience with project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera.
• Excellent communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred: OSHA 30 certification.
