Our team partners with clients and local jurisdictions throughout the development process, providing services including land planning, zoning assistance, land surveying, exhibit preparation, civil/site engineering, platting, construction staking, and as-built surveying. Our clients include nationally recognized builders and developers as well as local production and custom home builders.

Internship Purpose

Our Summer Internship Program provides hands-on exposure to the civil engineering and land development industry through a structured, eight-week experience centered within our Builder Services team.

The intern will develop foundational technical skills while gaining exposure to how civil engineering, land surveying, field operations, project management, and client coordination work together to move projects from concept through construction.

Throughout the internship, the intern will have opportunities to:

  • Learn core civil engineering and land development concepts and workflows

  • Develop foundational CAD skills through hands-on project work

  • Assist with the preparation and revision of technical drawings and project documents

  • Gain exposure to civil engineering, land surveying, field operations, and project management

  • Develop professional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  • Explore career paths within civil engineering, surveying, CAD design, and land development

Core Learning Objectives

By the end of the eight-week internship, the intern should be able to:

  • Describe the general lifecycle of a civil engineering and land development project

  • Demonstrate foundational proficiency using CAD software

  • Assist with the preparation and revision of documents such as:

    • Plot plans

    • Erosion control plans

    • Surveyor location reports

    • Lot fit exhibits

  • Interpret and incorporate verbal and written markups and redlines

  • Explain how Builder Services, civil engineering, land surveying, and field operations collaborate throughout a project

  • Demonstrate an understanding of field operations and construction coordination

  • Apply professional workplace communication, teamwork, and time-management skills

What We're Looking For

We are looking for motivated students who are interested in exploring a career in civil engineering, CAD design, land surveying, or land development. This opportunity is open to students at all undergraduate class levels, including incoming freshmen through graduating seniors.

Ideal candidates are:

  • Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD/Drafting, Land Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field

  • Interested in gaining hands-on experience within the civil engineering and land development industry

  • Curious, dependable, and eager to learn

  • Comfortable collaborating with team members across different departments

  • Detail-oriented with a willingness to develop technical and professional skills

No prior professional experience or CAD experience is required. Our internship program is designed to introduce students to the industry while providing practical, hands-on learning opportunities.
