Civil Estimator — Earthwork & Underground Utilities

Location: Greater Cleveland Area

Compensation: $85,000–$125,000 annually, depending on experience

About the Opportunity

An established civil construction organization is seeking a Civil Estimator with experience in earthwork, site utilities, and site development.

The ideal candidate understands field production, excavation quantities, underground utility scopes, and the cost factors that drive accurate and competitive civil construction bids.

Responsibilities

• Review civil plans, specifications, geotechnical information, and bid requirements.

• Perform earthwork and underground utility quantity takeoffs.

• Evaluate cut/fill quantities, grading, excavation, backfill, and material requirements.

• Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and hauling costs.

• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.

• Identify scope gaps, site constraints, and potential cost risks.

• Prepare bid proposals and document assumptions and exclusions.

• Coordinate with operations and project managers on production assumptions.

• Maintain estimating records and historical cost information.

• Support project handoff and review actual costs to improve future estimates.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated civil estimating experience.

• Experience with earthwork, grading, and underground site utilities.

• Strong understanding of civil construction methods and equipment productivity.

• Ability to interpret civil drawings and specifications.

• Experience with digital takeoff or earthwork estimating tools.

• Strong Excel, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple bid deadlines.
