About the Position

CMDA is seeking a highly-motivated Civil Litigation Attorney with at least five years of active civil litigation experience to assist with a fast-paced trial docket and to help grow its Grand Rapids, Michigan office. CMDA practices in the areas of municipal law, insurance defense litigation, employment and labor law, and general litigation.

Skills and Educational Requirements

• JD from an ABA-Approved law school, with excellent academic credentials.
• Current Michigan Bar admission in good standing.
• Minimum of five years of active civil litigation experience.
• Ability to manage cases from inception through trial, including preparation of pleadings, motions, and briefs, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, and conducting legal research, analysis, and writing.
• Public entity defense experience is a plus, but not required.
• High energy, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to take on new projects and learn new skills quickly.
• Outstanding analytical and creative thinking capabilities.
• Excellent writing, research, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and electronic discovery platforms.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a timely and professional manner, along with a commitment to provide clients with high-quality services.
