Description
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for civil sitework, utility, excavation, grading, paving, and infrastructure projects.
- Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Develop detailed bid proposals and pricing strategies.
- Identify project risks, constructability concerns, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations, project management, and field teams during preconstruction efforts.
- Participate in bid reviews, scope analysis, and project handoff meetings.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and market pricing trends.
- Support public and private bidding opportunities.
Profile
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Background in heavy civil construction, site development, utilities, roadway, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience working with municipalities, developers, general contractors, or public agencies is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with estimating software and digital takeoff tools preferred.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience estimating civil sitework and heavy construction projects.
- Strong understanding of excavation, grading, underground utilities, paving, and related construction scopes.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid packages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software platforms.
- Experience preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses.
- Knowledge of subcontractor procurement and bid evaluation processes.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites as needed.
