Class A CDL Driver – End Dump (Transfer Trucks)
San Angelo, TX | $25/hr + $0.95/mile
We are looking for an experienced Class A CDL driver to haul loads of processed metal to the mills in a transfer truck with an end dump trailer. This is a driving job built for someone who likes an early start, knows how to run an end dump, and wants to be paid for every hour and every mile.
Compensation:
- $25.00 per hour, plus $0.95 per mile
Schedule:
- Drivers leave the yard between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., depending on the destination
- Drivers are expected back at the yard no later than 3:00 p.m. so the truck can be reloaded for the next run and the mechanics can make any needed repairs
- Available to work scheduled shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends
About the Work:
- You'll be hauling loads of processed metal to mills and other locations throughout Texas
- Destinations change with the market: we deliver wherever we can sell the material for the best price, so no two weeks look exactly the same
- You'll run an end dump trailer independently, with minimal supervision
What You'll Do:
- Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Perform pre-trip inspections to make sure your truck is fully fueled and safe to operate, and confirm the required paperwork is on board before leaving the yard
- Check your load against the invoice provided by the supervisor
- Pick up and deliver loads to customers and other locations as directed by your supervisor
- Perform post-trip inspections, keep the cab clean, and submit the vehicle condition report (VCR)
- Track your own Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, including daily hours of service, and tell your supervisor right away if you are at risk of going out of compliance
- Report any moving violations incurred during work hours at the end of your shift, and report any personal moving violations or accidents within 72 hours
- Other duties as assigned
What You Need (Required):
- Valid Class A CDL
- At least one year of related medium or heavy truck driving experience and/or specialized training
- Ability to independently operate end dump trailers
- Safe driving record for the last five years
- Valid medical card, or the ability to obtain one
- Excellent heavy truck driving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable transportation to get to the yard
- Ability to perform basic math
- Ability to read and speak English well enough to talk with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and complete reports and records
Nice to Have (Preferred):
- High school diploma or equivalent
