Job Overview:
Catholic Academy of Stamford is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support children in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. This position is Monday through Thursday from 8am-2pm and Friday from 8am-1:00pm.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Must love children and finds joy in helping children succeed
- Can work successfully with children ages 5 through 13
- Has experience supporting children with learning differences
- Possesses a bachelors degree in special education or a related field
- Special education certification
- Believes in God
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage Student Support Plans: Lead, draft, and implement student support plans based on student data (e.g. testing, 504's, IEP's, and teacher feedback)
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt general education curricula, modify testing materials, and utilize assistive technology to match students functional and academic levels
- Behavior Management: Create and implement behavioral intervention plans, applying positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies when necessary
- Collaboration & Communication: Partner with teachers and parents. Communicate plans and progress with teacher.
- Student Assessment: Conduct both formal and informal evaluations to adjust instructional techniques and document growth
- Schedule Work with Students: Develop a schedule to work with students who need support
