Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Radiology Director and the Radiology School Program Director, the Radiologic Technology School Clinical Instructor is responsible for the direction, coordination and daily operation of the students at the Research clinical site. Duties include the performance of diagnostic imaging exams/procedures, clinical instruction, student supervision, student evaluation, and coordination of various clinical modality assignments in conjunction with the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator. The Radiologic Technology School Clinical Instructor is responsible for the onsite instruction of the students to ensure appropriate training and guidance in the clinical setting. The instructor also helps assess the effectiveness of the overall program in Radiologic Technology while working directly with the students and assists with maintaining all standards for accreditation by the JRCERT.

What you will do in this role: 

  • You will be responsible for the clinical education of student radiographers during their rotation at Research Medical Center. 
  • You will perform radiology procedures including diagnostic x-rays, portable radiography, fluoroscopy and sterile contrast studies (lumbar punctures, myelograms, arthrograms etc.).
  • You will coordinate with Research clinical staff to ensure the completion of daily tasks and workflow. 
  • You will conduct evaluations and competency testing for students, assessing their performance of various radiologic procedures and ensure they meet the required standards.
  • You will maintain accurate records of student attendance, evaluations, room objectives, and advanced modality rotations. 
  • You will oversee the shadow experience for the new student application process. 
  • You will participate in the interviews for the new student application process. 
  • You will assist in maintaining quality assurance programs within the imaging department. 

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic technology either a two year or four year program.
    • Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
    • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
    • Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as a registered radiology technologist
    • Proficient in supervision, instruction, and evaluation.
    • Familiar with standards needed for accreditation by JRCERT.
    • Diagnostic imaging equipment including associated patient monitoring equipment, PACS, scanning equipment, image generation equipment, teleradiology equipment, computers, RIS/HIS, phone, overhead projectors, fax and paging systems
