Job Description
Duties:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other patient specimens
- Collect, process, label, and prepare specimens for testing and analysis
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Ensure accuracy of test results through quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Maintain compliance with NYSED, CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and our client laboratory policies
- Document and report laboratory findings accurately and promptly
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and specimen handling protocols
- Support laboratory operations in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, and related departments as assigned
Skills:
- Minimum 1 year of General Clinical Technician / Clinical Laboratory experience
- Experience performing laboratory testing, specimen processing, quality control, and maintaining laboratory standards
- Experience working in an acute care hospital, public health system, or high-volume laboratory environment - preferred
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR) - preferred
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission) - preferred
Education:
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) Certification issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
- Primary Source Verification required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification - preferred
Shift:
- 12:00 AM-8:00 AM
- 35 hours/weekly
- 5 days/week
