Job DescriptionEvernorth Behavioral Care Group Medical Director & PC Owner Job SummaryThe Medical Director provides high-level psychiatric and medical oversight for the organization's clinical programs in a consultative capacity. This role ensures that clinical policies, treatment protocols, and standards of care align with current best practices in mental health and applicable regulatory requirements. The Medical Director does not carry a direct caseload and functions as a trusted expert resource for the clinical team.Key Responsibilities Clinical Oversight & Consultation Participate in a monthly check-in meeting (virtual or in-person) with the Clinical Director to discuss program quality and emerging clinical issues Offer guidance on evidence-based practices, standards of care, and clinical protocols Support risk management efforts, including review of critical incidents when needed Quality & Compliance Advise on clinical quality improvement initiatives and outcomes measurement Ensure alignment with regulatory, ethical, and accreditation standards Review and approve clinical policies, protocols, and treatment guidelines on an annual basis or as updates are needed Serve as the clinical signature authority for organizational documents, policies, and regulatory filings that require physician oversight Assist with credentialing, grant applications, or insurance contracting that requires a physician of record Complete applicable CMEs to maintain licensures Program Development Consult on service line development (e.g., integration of psychiatry, higher levels of care, specialty programs) Provide subject matter expertise on emerging trends in mental health care Collaboration & Leadership Participate in periodic leadership meetings (virtual) Serve as a clinical liaison between therapy providers and medical considerations when applicable Support interdisciplinary collaboration and best practices across the organizationRequired Qualifications Advanced clinical degree in behavioral health (e.g., MD, Psychiatrist). Active, unrestricted medical license in all 50 state(s) of operation (or ability to obtain) Strong expertise in behavioral health management, clinical decisionmaking, and evidencebased care.
