Clinical Research Assistant

Department Overview:

The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting for a full-time Clinical Research Assistant for the Building Lifelong Outcomes through Optimized Maternal Mindfulness (BLOOM) study.

Function/Duties of Position:

The Building Lifelong Outcomes through Optimized Maternal Mindfulness (BLOOM) study at OHSU is conducting a study on the effects of a mindfulness intervention during pregnancy on the physical health and emotional wellbeing of the parent and child under the direction of Principal Investigator, Elinor Sullivan Ph.D. This position will assist the project as a point of contact for families interested in the study. The majority of duties will include running data collection visits with participants including behavioral assessment with 6 month old babies, recruitment of participants, scheduling visits, infant behavioral coding of videotaped visits, and collecting biological samples including blood draws. Other duties include preparing and processing materials needed for each research visit, filing, copying, data processing and other general duties in support of the goals of the study. The candidate will also attend weekly laboratory staff meetings with the PIs and senior staff members. Essential qualifications include multi-tasking, dependability, attention to detail, and ability to work at a fast paced, timely manner. Skilled at oral, email, and written communication.  Previous experience working with mothers and infants in a research setting is desired. Intermediate computer experience with Word and Excel, is preferred.  Interest in mental health or healthcare is desired. A regular work schedule will be assigned and must be maintained. The candidate will be required to perform weekend and evening work as needed to complete the goals of the study.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in relevant field ORAssociate's AND 2 years of relevant experience OR3 years of relevant experience OREquivalent combination of training and experience.
• Basic computer and office related skills.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or major studies in Psychology or Biology or a related field.
• Previous experience working with women and children in a research setting is desired. 
• REDCap data tool experience highly desired.
