Clinician

St. Thomas Aquinas College invites applications for a per diem (880 hours/fiscal year) Clinician in our Health and Wellness Department. This position is ideal for license eligible individuals who require post graduate clinical experience for professional licensure. This job entails assisting the Director of Health and Wellness with the delivery of psychological services to a multicultural student body. In addition, this position will also entail the development and presentation of preventative psychoeducational programming to the campus community. This position reports directly to the Director of Health and Wellness for administrative supervision and may consult with any of the other Health and Wellness mental health professionals for clinical supervision (as needed).

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Clinical Services

• Provide psychological assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and short-term individual and group therapy to a diverse student population, consistent with licensure and professional standards.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions to assess and treat students experiencing emotional, behavioral, and personal concerns.
• Refer students to appropriate community providers, hospitals, and other resources, coordinating follow-up care and post-hospitalization support as needed.
• Consult with students' families and significant others, when appropriate, to support treatment and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in accordance with ethical, legal, and institutional standards.

Consultation, Outreach, and Collaboration

• Consult with faculty, administrators, Residence Life staff, and other campus partners regarding student mental health concerns and provide recommendations when appropriate.
• Conduct evaluations and prepare reports for students referred through administrative processes.
• Provide immediate crisis assessment and intervention for students experiencing urgent psychological or behavioral concerns.
• Develop and facilitate psychoeducational programs, workshops, and outreach initiatives that promote student wellness.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community mental health providers, hospitals, and other external resources.
• Participate in departmental meetings, case consultations, and administrative supervision with the Director of Health and Wellness.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Graduate level mental health degree (degree must entail direct on campus, classroom coursework) with a clinical focus (Psy.D., Ph.D., MA/MS in mental health counseling, MSW)

• Licensure commensurate with the above degree enabling the individual to practice independently in the state of NY without supervision (Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker). Note, clinical and/or administrative supervision may still be required. The individual is responsible for maintaining Active licensure status in the state of NY for the duration of the appointment.

• Experience with delivering mental health services in person and via telehealth

• While this position is on site at St. Thomas Aquinas College, telehealth modalities may be utilized (if indicated or needed). Knowledge of guidelines commensurate with one's license and applicable laws is required.

• Maintain individual malpractice insurance policy.

• Experience with conducting individual and group psychotherapy with a college student population (prefer college psychological services center experience).

• Specific experience in crisis intervention required.

Compensation and Schedule

• This is a per diem position, W2, without benefits
• This position pays an hourly rate of $40/hour
• Individuals are asked to provide a minimum of 14 hours per week on site between the hours of 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday
• While there is some flexibility, it is asked that the clinician maintain a consistent weekly schedule.
