Job Responsibilities

Cloud Data Platform Administration: Administer Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, pools, permissions, and configurations. Implement governance, access controls, secrets management, and workspace policies. Ensure cost-efficient compute usage through autoscaling, cluster policies, and monitoring.

Data Infrastructure Reliability & Performance: Monitor performance of Databricks jobs, SQL warehouses, and underlying storage. Proactively tune clusters, SQL environments, and pipelines to ensure high availability. Maintain observability through monitoring platforms, SQL Server, Databricks Metrics, and alerting.

Data Backup, Recovery, & Resilience: Resolve data platform issues related to cluster performance, job failures, permissions, or integration points. Collaborate with data engineering and development teams to troubleshoot environment-level issues.

Database & Data System Security: Implement platform-wide security standards: SQL roles, Azure RBAC, network rules, Unity Catalog privileges. Support compliance and governance across cloud data services and SQL Server environments.

Troubleshooting & Operational Support: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, working closely with the IT team to troubleshoot and minimize disruptions.

Documentation, Standards, & Best Practices: Maintain documentation of environments, policies, network architecture, data access patterns, and cluster standards.
Job Specific Requirements
5+ years administering SQL Server or other enterprise databases
2-4 years managing cloud data platforms (Azure Databricks preferred)
1-3 year of experience with cloud-based data warehousing, business intelligence tools, data science, and data analytics environments in an Azure environment preferred
Experience with cloud-based compute cluster configuration, scaling, and optimization
Hands-on experience with monitoring and observabilities tools such as SolarWinds, Azure Monitor, and Databricks native tools
Preferred
Experience with Unity Catalog
Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Datafactory, & Delta Lake
Experience with DevOps for data platforms (CI/CD for Databricks, Infrastructure-as-code for data services)
Familiarity with Power BI or Analytics integration
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform routine office tasks that includes operating a computer for long periods of time, sitting, filing and communicating on the phone
Ability to perform all physical functions consistent with travel including sitting in airplanes and driving for long periods of time
Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull a maximum of 30 lbs
