Position: Cloud & DevOps Architect (Contract & FTE)
Location: Denver, CO (On-site / Hybrid)
Duration: Long term
Job Description:
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cloud & DevOps Architect to lead the architecture, design, and continuous delivery of scalable digital platforms within the Telecommunications and Media & Entertainment domain. In this role, you will bridge the gap between cloud architecture and hands-on application development across multi-cloud environments (GCP and AWS).
The ideal candidate has a proven track record not only of orchestrating cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, but also of directly designing and developing resilient, cloud-native applications tailored for high-throughput media streaming, content distribution, and telecom network data services.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Architecture & Strategy: Architect, design, and govern resilient, highly available, and secure multi-cloud architectures across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Cloud Application Engineering: Lead the end-to-end design and development of modern cloud-native applications, microservices, and APIs handling high-volume telecom and media workflows.
- DevOps & Automation: Design and manage automated CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline application deployment, testing, and infrastructure provisioning.
- Platform Reliability & Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, tracing, and auto-scaling mechanisms to ensure platform health, uptime, and optimal latency across streaming and telecom services.
- Security & Compliance: Embed DevSecOps best practices, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, network segmentation, and compliance standards relevant to media assets and telecom infrastructure.
- Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional software engineering, data, and broadcast/network operations teams; provide architectural governance, code reviews, and mentorship to engineering teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 8+ years in software engineering and cloud infrastructure roles, with at least 3+ years operating as a Cloud/DevOps Architect.
- Multi-Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on architectural experience with both GCP (e.g., GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, BigQuery) and AWS (e.g., EKS, ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, RDS).
- Hands-on Development: Proven background in designing and developing backend applications/microservices using languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Deep expertise with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
- Containers & Orchestration: Strong production experience with Docker and Kubernetes (GKE / EKS), including service meshes (Istio/Linkerd) and Helm.
- CI/CD & Automation: Proficiency with CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Spinnaker).
- Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in the Telecommunications or Media & Entertainment industry (e.g., video streaming/transcoding pipelines, CDN integration, OTT services, OSS/BSS, or low-latency messaging platforms).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional-level Cloud Certifications:
- Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect / DevOps Engineer
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional / DevOps Engineer Professional
- Hands-on experience with streaming architectures, event-driven designs (e.g., Apache Kafka, Google Pub/Sub), and CDN architectures (e.g., CloudFront, Akamai, Fastly).
- Solid understanding of FinOps principles to optimize multi-cloud consumption and resource utilization.
