Cloud Ops SRE

Our financial services client is seeking a highly motivated Cloud Operations Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support the stability, security, provisioning, and operational excellence of their multi-cloud environment. This role will focus primarily on Azure and GCP, while also supporting AWS and OCI as needed. The successful candidate will help drive resilient, secure, and scalable cloud operations across infrastructure and platform services, with an emphasis on automation, remediation, monitoring, database platform support, AI-enabled infrastructure support, lifecycle management, service management, release and deployment management, and governance.

This role also supports public cloud demand and capacity management, including resource planning, quota monitoring, capacity forecasting, and coordination to ensure cloud platforms can reliably meet current and future business demand.

In addition, this role will support AI-enabled infrastructure and operational capabilities required to host, monitor, secure, and sustain modern data science and machine learning workloads. This includes support for ModelOps, platform reliability for AI/ML services, and operational controls for model deployment environments.

Experience supporting regulated environments, including FedRAMP High and enterprise governance requirements within a highly regulated financial institution, is highly valued.

This opportunity is based in a hybrid work environment, with a combination of in-office and remote working aligned to team and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations across a multi-cloud estate, with primary focus on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Provide operational support for AWS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments as required.
• Manage and support cloud provisioning, configuration, change implementation, service requests, and controlled decommissioning of cloud resources.
• Administer and support AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) and containerized workloads in partnership with engineering and application teams.
• Perform Linux systems support and administration for cloud-hosted workloads and platform components.
• Support cloud-hosted database services, including Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI) and Oracleenvironments, in partnership with infrastructure, DBA, and application teams.
• Support operational infrastructure for AI/ML platforms and services, including model hosting environments, supporting runtime platforms, and associated platform dependencies.
• Assist with ModelOps activities including operational support for model deployment pipelines, model runtime environments, monitoring, logging, controls, and lifecycle processes.
• Support firewall management activities across public cloud and hybrid environments, including policy implementation, rule review, change coordination, and operational support for network security controls.
• Partner with infrastructure and security teams to maintain secure traffic flows, segmentation, and firewall governance aligned with operational and compliance requirements.
• Drive cloud configuration remediation activities to align resources with security, compliance, and engineering standards.
• Execute and coordinate vulnerability remediation across cloud infrastructure, operating systems, containers, databases, AI/ML runtime components, and supporting platform services using tools such as Wiz and Qualys.
• Monitor cloud platforms, infrastructure services, workloads, databases, firewall-related controls, and AI-enabled platform components using enterprise monitoring and observability tooling including Splunk.
• Perform incident management activities including triage, response, restoration, escalation, communications, and coordination to minimize business impact.
• Support problem management processes through root cause analysis, trend analysis, corrective action planning, and implementation of preventive measures.
• Fulfill and manage service requests related to cloud provisioning, access, operational support, platform changes, firewall changes, and infrastructure lifecycle activities in accordance with service standards and controls.
• Support release and deployment management processes for cloud infrastructure, platform services, containerized workloads, database changes, and AI-enabled environments to ensure controlled and reliable production implementations.
• Coordinate deployment activities across engineering, infrastructure, security, database, and application teams, ensuring appropriate planning, scheduling, approvals, validation, and rollback readiness.
• Help maintain operational readiness for releases by validating dependencies, configuration alignment, monitoring coverage, support procedures, and post-deployment controls.
• Contribute to release governance by supporting implementation traceability, deployment documentation, change records, and post-release issue tracking.
• Support demand and capacity management processes across public cloud environments, with emphasis on Azure and GCP and awareness of AWS and OCI consumption patterns.
• Monitor and manage cloud quotas, service limits, regional capacity constraints, and resource availability to help ensure timely provisioning and sustained platform reliability.
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to assess current usage, forecast future demand, and plan for capacity needs across compute, storage, networking, Kubernetes, database, firewall services, and AI-enabled services.
• Identify and escalate capacity risks, quota shortfalls, and service availability constraints that could impact onboarding, scaling, production stability, or resiliency objectives.
• Support proactive planning for growth, performance, resiliency, and recovery capacity across cloud-hosted infrastructure and platform services.
• Contribute to operational reporting and governance for cloud consumption, capacity utilization, quota thresholds, and remediation or expansion actions.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and cloud service providers, where applicable, to support quota increases, capacity reservations, and resolution of capacity-related issues.
• Support governance and compliance requirements for cloud, database, container, firewall, and AI-enabled infrastructure operating in a highly regulated banking environment.
• Partner with risk, compliance, cybersecurity, and audit stakeholders to support control execution, evidence gathering, issue remediation, and exam/audit readiness.
• Help maintain operational processes and technical controls aligned to regulatory expectations, internal standards, and secure engineering practices.
• Support documentation, traceability, and reporting required for audits, regulatory reviews, and control assessments.
• Contribute to resiliency, business continuity, disaster recovery, and operational recovery practices required for critical financial services infrastructure.
• Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) management for core infrastructure, including continuity planning, disaster recovery preparedness, recovery testing, failover coordination, dependency validation, recovery documentation, and remediation of identified gaps to help ensure critical cloud, database, network, firewall, and AI-enabled platform services meet required resiliency and recovery objectives.
• Respond to incidents, troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Support reliability engineering practices including availability improvement, resilience testing, alert tuning, and operational readiness.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, database, application, data, and AI/ML teams to maintain secure and compliant cloud environments.
• Contribute to automation for routine operational tasks, remediation workflows, provisioning processes, compliance checks, and AI platform support activities using Terraform, scripting, and related tooling.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, standards, support procedures, and service support knowledge artifacts.
• Support audit, risk, and regulatory requirements relevant to cloud operations in enterprise and highly regulated environments.
• Participate in on-call or after-hours support rotations as required.

Governance and Compliance Support

• Support cloud and platform operations within a highly regulated financial services environment, ensuring alignment with internal controls, audit expectations, and applicable legal, regulatory, and security requirements.
• Partner with risk, control, cybersecurity, compliance, and audit teams to maintain operational practices that support a strong control environment across multi-cloud, database, container, firewall, and AI-enabled infrastructure.
• Assist in implementing and sustaining controls related to data protection, access management, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, change management, release governance, configuration management, and infrastructure lifecycle governance.
• Support adherence to applicable government and regulatory requirements relevant to financial services and cloud operations, including security, privacy, resiliency, recordkeeping, and operational risk obligations.
• Contribute to readiness for internal and external reviews, including regulatory exams, audits, control testing, risk assessments, and remediation tracking.
• Maintain evidence, documentation, and operational artifacts required to demonstrate compliance with internal policies, engineering standards, and external regulatory expectations.
• Support governance processes for cloud resources, AI-enabled platforms, model-supporting infrastructure, firewall controls, and production services to ensure proper approvals, traceability, segregation of duties, and operational transparency.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify control gaps, track remediation actions, and implement sustainable improvements that strengthen reliability, security, and compliance outcomes.
• Help ensure infrastructure and platform services are managed in accordance with standards for business continuity, disaster recovery, resiliency, and secure operational recovery.
• Promote disciplined operational practices that support a secure, auditable, and regulator-ready technology environment.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Azure and GCP in production enterprise environments.
• Working knowledge of AWS and/or OCI.
• Experience supporting Kubernetes, especially AKS.
• Strong experience with Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting cloud-hosted database platforms, including Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI) and/or Oracle environments.
• Experience supporting or partnering with teams operating AI/ML infrastructure, model deployment platforms, or data science runtime environments.
• Foundational understanding of ModelOps / MLOps concepts, including model deployment support, operational monitoring, model lifecycle controls, and production support considerations.
• Experience with cloud provisioning, operational support, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Experience identifying and resolving cloud misconfigurations and enforcing configuration standards.
• Experience with vulnerability remediation and patch/support processes across cloud, database, OS, container, and AI platform layers, including use of Wiz and Qualys.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability platforms, including Splunk.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code, provisioning, and operational change management.
