CMA / X-Ray Tech

The CMA / X-Ray Tech will apply professional clinical theory and render services consistent with the scope of practice for CMAs within the State of North Carolina.  The CMA/X-Ray Tech will perform a wide variety of duties relating to assisting the provider with patient care in an office type setting.

CMAs will receive on-the-job training to perform x-rays on legs, arms, fingers, toes, ankles, wrists, hands and chest.  The CMA/X-Ray Tech will operate radiographic equipment to make quality radiographs of designated portions of the body as described above under the direct order of a physician and in accordance with radiation safety procedures.  The CMA/X-Ray Tech will accomplish patient care in a timely, professional, efficient, and safe manner.  The CMA/X-Ray Tech will work interdependently with other medical professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. 

Medical Assistant Duties:

• Rooms patients and gathers the following information: Document chief complaint, perform and document vital signs, review medications, review changes in medical history, and perform required screenings.
• Clean rooms
• Performs additional functions to include, assist with procedures, administer oral medications, teach crutch use, apply splints.
• Implements, applies, and follows approved protocols and standing orders.
• Follows and applies all approved workflows.
• Document accurately in the patient’s electronic medical record all services rendered consistently with Boice-Willis Clinic’s policies and procedures.
• Prep patient for any exams that will take place during appointment.
• Reply 24 – 48 business hours to all patient calls or web encounters to include communications regarding results, new medication instructions, etc.
• Maintains supply, medication, and sample inventories per Boice-Willis Clinic policies.
• Comply with all HIPAA, OSHA, Compliance, and IT standards and policies.
• Supports Quality Initiatives (ACO, Meaningful Use, PCMH, and PQRS) by data collection and compliance of respected programs.
• Job specific tasks for each area within the Clinic will vary according to specialty of provider.
• To ensure x-ray coverage at the Walk-In Clinic, the CMA/X-Ray Tech position will not float as a CMA to locations outside of the Walk-In Clinic.
• Other duties as assigned and trained by administration and/or providers.

X-Ray Tech Duties:

• Perform diagnostic x-ray procedures and EKG’s under the direction of the provider as assigned.
• Perform exams and procedures for patients maintaining an efficient workflow.
• Review results for quality and accuracy.
• Review CPT charges for accuracy.
• Operate PACS and DR systems accurately.
• Ensure proper patient identification and anatomical orientation on all images.
• Monitor patients during examination.
• Maintain record of examinations performed.
• Ensure that the x-ray rooms are adequately stocked and clean.
• Properly maintain care of equipment and department.
• Report any equipment problems or deficiencies to the Practice Manager.
• Maintain adequate records and required paperwork.
• Follow established OSHA policies.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities/maintain ARRT credentials.
• Forward all service reports to Manager.
• Follow all HIPAA policies.
