Measurements are performed using portable coordinate measuring systems, optical/laser scanning equipment, and traditional precision measurement tools to verify conformance with engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications. This role supports in-process inspection, final inspection, tooling validation, and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.

      Dimensional Inspection:

      • Perform pre-production, in-process and final dimensional inspection of tooling, fixtures, fabricated components, machined parts, and assemblies.
      • Operate portable metrology equipment including Hexagon ROMER Arm systems.
      • Use optical or laser scanning systems to capture part geometry and perform CAD-to-part comparisons.
      • Conduct dimensional layouts verifying location, profile, flatness, parallelism, and positional tolerances.
      • Measure small and large sheetmetal or fabricated structures, weldments, and tooling.
      • Generate and maintain dimensional inspection reports, scan reports, and measurement documentation.
      • Record objective evidence supporting quality records and audits.

      Metrology & Measurement Planning:

      • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to develop measurement strategies.
      • Establish coordinate systems, datums, and alignment strategies for accurate inspection.
      • Develop or optimize measurement routines for portable CMM and scanning equipment.

First Article Inspection (FAI) / Production Part Approval Process (PPAP):

      • Perform dimensional verification required for AS9102 First Article Inspection or PPAP submissions, when applicable.
      • Assist with ballooned drawings and characteristic traceability.

      Collaboration & Problem Solving:

      • Work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve dimensional discrepancies.
      • Identify and document nonconforming conditions and support nonconformance reports (NCRs).
      • Provide measurement data to support root cause investigations and corrective actions.

      Equipment Care & Calibration:

      • Maintain proper care of metrology equipment and inspection fixtures.
      • Ensure measurement tools remain within calibration requirements.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience with large, fabricated assemblies or welded structures.
      • Experience with CAD model-based inspection workflows.
      • Familiarity with defense, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environments.

      Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

      • Ability to move around large parts, fixtures, and tooling during measurement activities.
      • Ability to lift up to 35–50 lbs. as required.
      • Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
      • Must follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

This role subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and as such, U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or U.S. Person Status Required.
