NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a CMT Engineering Technician to join our Norcross, GA office. This is a primarily field-based role, responsible for performing on-site testing and inspection of construction materials to support a wide range of commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, being hands-on at active construction sites, and playing a critical role in ensuring quality and compliance throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field testing and inspection of construction materials, including: Soil compaction testing, Concrete sampling, testing, and placement inspections; Asphalt density testing; and Reinforcing steel inspections
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards
- Communicate field observations and test results to project managers, contractors, and clients
- Prepare and submit clear, timely, and accurate field reports
- Assist with site safety efforts and adhere to all company and project safety requirements
- Maintain, transport, and operate field testing equipment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in engineering technology or related field preferred)
- Experience in construction materials testing (CMT), inspections, or construction fieldwork preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Comfortable working outdoors on active construction sites in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Certifications:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level I(highly preferred)
- ICC Certifications (preferred but not required): Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry
- Nuclear Density Gauge
